I remember the Federation conference I went to many years ago, when Donna Dietrich did a workshop on CMH week. I was sooooo excited. I came back to Massachusetts and talked it up. The first year (believe it or not) the state organization did not want to do it, so we talked Blue Cross Blue Shield into being a corporate sponsor, got some small dollars and took off.

I think it's very important to emphasize that this is an initiative started by a family organization coming out of their minds, hearts and experience. That's why it caught on here.

We are ramping up for the week already and just put in an "official" request for a governor's proclamation. Last year we had the mayors of 3 cities do separate proclamations as well, some with ceremonies, some not. We like the ceremonies to involve youth. This is one of our areas of expansion for this year.

Also, The ribbons are great!! We used them last year throughout the year at many legislative events!

I would like to encourage everyone to attend the Friday Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week web-meeting.

Last weeks meeting was very informative and sooooooooo exciting. This years Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week is going to be the best we have done so far and from here on out the sky is the limit. We need your input and materials but we also need you to brainstorm with us….. This is our week lets take ownership of it and the website.

Let’s put the National Federation on the map as well as the State Organizations, the chapters and our partners.
